We’re a bunch of Frisbee lovers who kicked things off in Fuvahmulah in February 2024, and we’re on a mission to make this the city’s No.1 sport. Whether you’re a pro at throwing perfect curves or just figuring out which way to flick your wrist, you’re welcome here!
Frisbee is played by throwing a flying disc between players. Depending on the version (casual catch, Ultimate Frisbee, or Disc Golf), the rules vary. In Ultimate Frisbee, teams pass the disc to teammates, aiming to catch it in the opponent's end zone to score points.
How do I throw the Frisbee straight and accurately? Hold the Frisbee with a firm grip, keep your wrist level, and flick it with a smooth follow-through. The forehand (flick) and backhand throws are the most common. Keeping the disc flat and releasing it smoothly helps with accuracy.
Can you run with the Frisbee in hand? No, in Ultimate Frisbee, players cannot run while holding the disc. They must establish a pivot foot and pass it to a teammate.
Is Frisbee a non-contact sport? Yes, Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact sport. Physical contact, picks, and screens are not allowed, and players must avoid collisions.
In Ultimate Frisbee, there are no official referees; players self-officiate based on the "Spirit of the Game," which emphasizes honesty and fair play. Some competitive levels may use "Observers" to assist with calls.
